📰 Crew Wells is more valuable than Luke Rumbaugh and the league’s best
July 22, 2026
Nobody wants to say it, but let’s be real: Crew Wells is the most underrated engine in the BAL. While everyone obsesses over the high-octane flash of scorers like Makai Ortiz-Gray, Wells is quietly dominating the glass with 10.8 RPG. I’m putting my reputation on the line here—by the end of the playoffs, Wells will be recognized as a more valuable asset to his team than the supposedly elite Luke Rumbaugh. Rumbaugh puts up 21.8 PPG, but he’s a luxury item. Wells is the foundation. If you aren’t building your roster around a double-double threat like him, you’re playing for second place.
The Woodpeckers are in serious trouble and everyone knows it. Relying on Devin Atkinson’s 9.2 rebounds is a recipe for a first-round exit when they run into a real interior force. Let’s be honest, Devin Atkinson has been a disappointment compared to the expectations of a defending champion. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Espinal of the 8 Balls is putting up 20.0 PPG, yet his team is absolute garbage and deserves to be relegated immediately. It’s embarrassing that a player with his offensive output is anchored to such a sinking ship.
This is my bold prediction: Crew Wells finishes this season with more double-doubles than any other player in the league, effectively ending the debate on who truly impacts winning basketball. The Lanc Show? They’re a mirage. Ajani Simmons is flashy with 4.9 APG, but until he finds someone to crash the boards like Wells, they will remain a perpetual pretender. Someone on that roster needs to step up or step aside, because right now, the Huskies are the only team playing with real intent. Get used to the winning, or get out of the way.
