📰 Crew Wells Is the Only MVP While Justin Baker 2.0 Is Trash

August 23, 2026
Let’s be real: the MVP conversation in the BAL has become a joke, polluted by stat-padding guards who wouldn’t know a defensive stop if it hit them in the face. Everyone is fawning over the high scorers, but while they play "look at me" basketball, Crew Wells is out here doing the actual work. With 16.6 PPG and a league-leading 11.2 RPG, Wells is the only player in this league providing value that translates to winning. If your definition of MVP doesn't include the guy anchoring the paint every single night, you’re just a box-score watcher. Nobody wants to say it, but Justin Baker 2.0 has been a total disappointment this season. We were told he was the centerpiece of the Cherrypickers, yet he’s consistently outperformed on the glass by Wells and can’t carry his squad to relevance. The Cherrypickers are in serious trouble and everyone knows it; they’re a paper-thin roster masquerading as contenders. Watching Baker 2.0 fumble his MVP buzz while Wells relentlessly dominates the interior is embarrassing. This is a wake-up call for the rest of the league: stop romanticizing empty points. Ty Burton might lead in PPG, but he’s a luxury. Crew Wells is a necessity. If you want to talk about "Most Valuable," look at the guy who controls the entire flow of the game, not the guy who just launches threes from the logo. Someone on that Cherrypickers roster needs to step up or step aside, because right now, Wells is running circles around them while they chase ghosts of a trophy that was never theirs.
