📰 Brad Atkinson is a pathetic fraud wasting Ethan Benne’s championship window

August 26, 2026
Let’s be real: the Tropics are in serious trouble and everyone knows it. While Ethan Benne is out here putting the team on his back with a massive 30.4 PPG, he’s essentially playing four-on-five basketball. Nobody wants to say it, but Brad Atkinson has been a disappointment this season. With a pedestrian 14.7 PPG and a pathetic 0.8 SPG, he’s become the ultimate "empty stats" guy who disappears when the game intensity ramps up. This is embarrassing. You look at a guy like Eli Washington, who matches Brad’s 5.8 APG but actually contributes a formidable 20.0 PPG and leads the league with 2.2 SPG. Eli is a floor general who impacts winning; Brad is just a guy taking up space on the court. If you’re dishing out nearly six assists a game, how are you only putting up 14 points? It’s not just a lack of scoring—it’s a lack of urgency. The Tropics are wasting a prime season from Benne because their secondary option is playing like he’s allergic to the rim. Someone on that roster needs to step up or step aside before the Tropics become the laughingstock of the BAL. You can’t claim to be a contender when your second-highest paid attention-grabber is providing less offensive pressure than a bench warmer. Brad Atkinson is coasting on reputation while better players like Justin Baker 2.0 and Ty Burton are redefining what it means to carry a franchise. Wake up, Brad—or watch your team’s championship window slam shut in your face.
