Is Jackson Houston Coming Back?
Jackson Houston has spent the week training, fueling speculation that an emotional BWAL return could be on the horizon.
August 26, 2026
The BWAL may be preparing for the return of one of its most passionate competitors.
Jackson Houstonβbetter known throughout the league as "Superman"βhas reportedly been training throughout the week as he considers making his way back onto the field. Nothing has been officially announced, but those close to the situation believe Houston is seriously exploring a comeback.
For Houston, the BWAL was always about more than wins, losses or statistics. The league gave him a place to compete, connect with friends and become part of something that meant a great deal to him.
"You could always tell how much this league meant to Jackson," said 8 Balls star Matt McCleary. "He never treated it like it was just another game. If Superman is coming back, people better be ready, because he's going to put everything he has into it."
Houston spent his first two BWAL seasons with the 8 Balls, appearing in nine games and helping the franchise reach the Season 1 championship. He logged 57 innings on the mound, recorded 48 strikeouts and scored 10 runs. While his numbers tell part of the story, Houston's energy and personality made him one of the league's most recognizable players.
"He brings something different," Titans veteran Willie Burger said. "Jackson has that energy where you know he's in the building. The league is more entertaining when Superman is around."
Questions remain about what role Houston would have if he officially returnedβand whether that return would come with the 8 Balls or a new team. Several organizations could use another experienced arm, especially one already familiar with the pressure of a postseason run.
Brad Atkinson of the Cherrypickers believes Houston's commitment should not be questioned.
"If he has been training all week, that tells you he isn't thinking about coming back just for attention," Atkinson said. "He wants to compete. He loves this league, and I think everybody around BWAL respects that."
A comeback would also give Houston the opportunity to rewrite the ending of his last season. After appearing in only two games during Season 2, Superman disappeared from the BWAL scene almost as quickly as he had arrived.
Now, the cape may be coming back out.
Houston still has work to do, and no roster spot is guaranteed. But the fact that he is training again has already created excitement throughout the league. For a player who cared so deeply about the BWAL, the opportunity to return could mean everything.
The BWAL has seen plenty of starsβbut it has only had one Superman.
And Superman might be ready to fly again.
SEASON 4 QUESTION: Does Jackson Houston come back, and does he come back as the same player β or a motivated one?
