π° Elijah Eberly is the Woodpeckers only real player and Rumbaugh is useless
September 2, 2026
Nobody wants to say it, but Elijah Eberly is the most valuable player on the Woodpeckers, and frankly, heβs doing more for winning basketball than anyone else on that roster. While the casuals drool over Luke Rumbaughβs 21.7 PPG, those points are nothing but empty calorie filler. Eberly is out here putting up a massive 10.0 RPG while chipping in 3.0 APG, doing the dirty work that actually keeps this team afloat. Letβs be real: Rumbaugh is a liability who doesn't contribute on the glass, leaving Eberly to clean up the mess every single night.
This is embarrassing for a franchise that claims to be a contender. Look at the numbersβEberly is averaging double-digit rebounds, sitting right behind elite anchors like Jared Kumah. Meanwhile, the Woodpeckers are in serious trouble and everyone knows it because they refuse to feed the guy who actually controls the game. If you compare his impact to someone like Makai Ortiz-Gray, who offers a pathetic 2.0 RPG, the difference is night and day. Ortiz-Gray is just a glorified shooter, but Eberly is a foundational piece.
Letβs be honest, Devin Atkinson has been a disappointment this season. Despite racking up 5.8 APG, his defensive effortβevidenced by his inability to rack up steals like Jordan Tysonβs 2.7 SPGβshows heβs coasting. Someone on that roster needs to step up or step aside, and that person isn't Eberly. If the Woodpeckers want to reclaim their glory, they need to stop force-feeding the scorers and start running the offense through the only guy playing actual basketball. Stop being blinded by the box score; the tape doesn't lie, and Eberly is the only one keeping the ship from sinking.
