It’s time to stop coddling the "stars" of this league. Let’s be real: Ajani Simmons is the most overrated playmaker in the BAL. With a 22.3 PPG average, people act like he’s elite, but look at the impact—or lack thereof. He’s putting up numbers, sure, but compare that to Justin Baker 2.0, who is doing more across the board with 19.6 PPG, 7.8 RPG, and 4.8 APG. Simmons is just a volume shooter masquerading as a leader, and the Lanc Show are in serious trouble because they’ve tied their wagon to a guy who can’t crash the boards.
Nobody wants to say it, but the Cherrypickers are a ticking time bomb and Jordan Tyson’s 2.7 SPG is the only thing keeping them relevant. If they don’t find a second option to alleviate the pressure, they’ll fold before the playoffs. This is embarrassing for a team with that much potential. Someone on that roster needs to step up or step aside before the rest of the league passes them by entirely.
Here is my bold prediction: By the end of the month, the Lanc Show will be clinging to a losing record, and Simmons will be exposed as a glorified highlight-chaser. Meanwhile, Jared Kumah—who is actually putting in the work with 10.2 RPG—will lead the Bullies on a tear that makes the current standings look like a total joke. Mark these words: Simmons will be benched for his lack of defensive intensity while players like Luke Rumbaugh continue to outperform him in real, meaningful metrics. The era of the empty-stats superstar is over. Adapt or get out of the way.
