⚾ Opening Night Chaos: Dragons and Titans Crush Struggling Opponents in BAL Opener
September 17, 2026
Season 4 of The BAL is officially underway, and if Opening Night is any indication, the league has officially descended into beautiful, chaotic anarchy. In the opener, the Dragons somehow edged out the Cherrypickers 14-13 despite Alex Kukic putting in a Herculean 5-inning effort with 8 strikeouts. Let’s be honest: the Cherrypickers’ pitching staff had a meltdown of epic proportions. Ian Campbell managed to surrender 7 earned runs in a single inning—a performance so catastrophic it’s bordering on performance art. Meanwhile, Jeb Besecker did the bare minimum at the plate with only one hit, yet walked away with 7 RBIs. Talk about being a passenger on the hype train.
The night cap was no less offensive to the eyes, as the Titans bullied the 8 Balls 14-9. Bubba Brezina was the clear star of the night, dealing an absurd 14 strikeouts to keep the 8 Balls in check. While Grant Conway deserves a tip of the cap for his 6-RBI haul, the real headline is the 8 Balls' offensive impotence. Aside from Matt McCleary’s solo effort, this lineup looked like it was swinging garden hoses instead of bats. Ronnie Swantner and Alex Cruz finishing with zero hits is nothing short of embarrassing—someone needs to explain how a professional wiffle ball team shows up that unprepared.
If the Cherrypickers and 8 Balls don't find a way to stop hemorrhaging runs, this season is going to be a long, painful funeral for their playoff hopes. My disappointment of the night? The entire Cherrypickers pitching rotation. If you can’t protect a lead after scoring 13 runs, you don’t deserve to step on the field. Welcome back to the mud, boys. Things are only getting messier from here.
