📰 Jared Kumah is a champion while high-scoring BAL stars play fraud basketball
September 28, 2026
Nobody wants to say it, but Jared Kumah is a more valuable asset to the Bullies than high-scoring "stars" like Ty Burton are to their own squads. Let’s be real: while the league fawns over Burton’s 30.6 PPG, he’s a glorified volume shooter who offers nothing in the paint. Kumah is putting up a dominant 22.3 PPG and 10.6 RPG—he’s the engine of his team, not just a highlight-reel seeker. If you want to win championships, you take the double-double machine over the guy who just launches from deep.
This is embarrassing for the Gremlins, who rely entirely on Burton’s gravity-defying usage rates while ignoring the defensive and rebounding liabilities he brings to the court. Compare that to the Bullies; Kumah controls the glass and keeps his team competitive in every single matchup. Meanwhile, the Tropics are in serious trouble and everyone knows it—Ethan Benne might be the MVP, but even his 30.4 PPG doesn't provide the interior stability that Kumah brings night in and night out.
Someone on those high-scoring rosters needs to step up or step aside because they are playing empty basketball. You look at the stat sheet, and you see guys like Luke Rumbaugh at 21.7 PPG who disappear when the game slows down. Kumah’s 1.3 SPG combined with his double-digit rebounding shows he’s actually playing both ends of the floor. If I’m building a team to win in the BAL, I’m taking Kumah over these flashy scorers every day of the week. The "star" culture in this league is a fraud, and it's time we start giving the credit to the guys actually doing the heavy lifting.
