What Do the Titans Do?
The defending champions face an offseason without MVP Willie Burger — and the roster questions ahead are the league's biggest.
August 26, 2026
The Titans are the defending champions. Now comes the hard part.
Season 3 ended with the Titans seizing control of the BWAL and Willie Burger winning MVP. Season 4 begins with a giant question mark: what do the Titans do without him?
Losing an MVP-changing force is the kind of hole no team just replaces. Burger wasn't just productive — he was the engine that let the rest of the roster slot in around him. Take that out and the entire construction shifts. Do the Titans try to replace his production with one player, or do they spread it across the lineup and ask everyone to do a little more?
The roster questions don't stop there. The Titans entered Season 3 with a specific identity — depth, balance, and a roster flexible enough to win in different ways. A title defense demands that same identity survive the loss of its best player, and that's not the same as keeping the rest of the names.
There's a case for aggression: go get a replacement quickly, make a splash, send a message that the champs aren't stepping back. There's a case for patience: trust the depth that won the title, don't overreact to one departure, and let the season reveal what's actually missing.
Whichever way they go, the Titans' offseason is now the league's biggest storyline. Everyone else is building to catch them. The Titans are building to stay there — minus the player who put them there.
SEASON 4 QUESTION: What do the Titans become when they can't simply be Willie Burger's team anymore?
